Gary Owen was born on 26 July 1974 in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. He was a Master-At-Arms in the U.S. Navy for six years. Owen is popularly known as the “Funniest Serviceman in America” because of his Stand-Up comedy acts. After winning the “Funniest Black Comedian in San Diego” contest, Owen appeared at The Comedy Store in his first gig in Hollywood.

Owen rose to fame when he appeared on Comic View, which is a stand-up showcase on the Black Entertainment Television. His comic talent earned him a full one-hour Grandstand Show on BET and later became the only white man to host Comic Show.

Screen Gems, an American film production studio, signed Owen for Think Like a Man, alongside Gabrielle Union and Jumanji star Kevin Hart. The film is based on the book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey. He reprised his role as Bennett in the follow up of the film Think Like a Man Too in 2014.

Owen has played featured roles in several films, including Daddy Day Care in 2003, Rebound in 2005, Little Man in 2006, College in 2008, Get Hard in 2015, and the 2016 horror comedy film, Meet the Blacks.
